Individuals who receive active SNAP benefits in participating SNAP E&T cities may utilize our subsidized services free of charge. Individuals cannot receive TANF or transitional benefits. Each participant must complete a verification process to confirm active SNAP benefits.
Project SNAP is a federally funded program created to assist active SNAP E&T participants for transportation services for job skills training and employment. Participants receiving TANF cash benefit participants or any type of transitional benefit are not eligible for Project SNAP, but are welcome to enroll in our Go To Work program. Project SNAP is a free program as long as the participant is actively enrolled in SNAP E&T.
All participants must be enrolled in an active SNAP case of a participating SNAP E&T local DSS city. You MUST have an active case in one of the following cities below to participate in Project SNAP: Hampton Roads: Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton, Virginia Beach
Central Virginia: Richmond All referring agencies must have a current service agreement on record with Go To Work.
Q: How do you enroll clients?
A: Complete the enrollment form below. You may enroll as an agency representative or individual. The form requires the client’s name, address, DOB, SSN, phone number, email, SNAP case number, LDSS city, and social worker’s name and phone number.
Verification of eligibility must be completed by our office to confirm enrollment.
The verification process can take up to 1 business day to complete. All services are based on availability.
